.   The only  course recognised by the health and safety authority is first aid responder.  This course was called occupational first aid up to 2014 when it then changed to FAR Courses, first aid responder.

Previously occupational first aid was a level 5 quality and qualifications Ireland (QQI) set out by the occupational first aid assessment authority )OFAAA)

In 2014 HSA and PHECC (the pre-hospital emergency care council ) agreed to introduce the first aid responder course as the required standard in the workplace.  This course is certified by PHECC

In Ireland when you wish to undertake a first aid responder course you must register with a qualified and registered training provider.  This provider will have undertaken training and assessment.  The individual trainer does not provide the certificate for the learner,  this is provided by a number of recognised institutions (RI’S) that have undergone stringent approval by PHECC, to monitor instructors and issue certs.  Each instructor must be affiliated with an RI.

Times: Start times for courses vary, your instructor will inform you at the time of booking. All courses must be at least 18 hours in duration and can be done over 3 days in a row or with a week or few days in between.

Cost:  Our First Aid Responder Courses (FAR Courses) is €300
